Beautiful national Forests. I love NFs better than National Parks. They're more low-key and just majestic, and their multiple use mission statement is a better use of public lands.
Great place to explore on walking trails and drive on dirt roads to get away from the crowds. Fishing at Open pond isn't the greatest but your best changes are at the ponds nearby,, buck pond is one of the good ones.. The campground at Open Pond is Cheap, spread out, with clean gravel pads. Its 16 USD sites with water and power. Dump site is 400 yards away. There is a swimming hole (blue spring) to the east. You can hike there in 2miles but during hot weather its best to drive so you can take your swimming gear. It's past the two other ponds then left, then right, then keep right, follow the road until it stops.
A beautiful National Forest! Great place to hike, or even just drive through.
I love to come here during the winter. Peaceful & quite. Warm & relaxing off the grid camping.
N overcrowded, you can swim, hike ,fish, picnic and camp. pretty nature all around. restrooms, trashcans readily available. Great spot
Every time we go camping there. It been a good time!
Nice small park
The most fugly national forest I've ever visited. It's 100% planted pine trees. It's a nationalized tree farm serving the smelly paper mills in South Alabama. Those responsible should be criminally charged. Why would anyone allow this to happen? South Alabama was once a beautiful place...now it's just awful.
