Grizzly Island is a beautiful place to visit. You feel such a peace as you escape the stress of traffic or feeling overwhelming. Many people fish here, so go find your spot to relax as you wait for a bite on the line. Fishing areas do fill up quickly at times, grab your cooler, chair, mosquito spray, and umbrella. There is hunting here. You need to register first. Visit their website for more information. Bird watching is a relaxing hobby. Stargazing is nice, too. Perhaps you just want a relaxing cruise. This is a pleasant drive, speed limit between 25-35. Some people are in a rush and will over take you because they're in a hurry. If you want to hike, be aware that there are snakes, skunks, jack rabbits, ticks, mosquitoes, and cattle, to name a few. The road starts out dirt and then paved, but if you continue down the road towards the hunting area, it does become a dirt road and bumpy at times. It is marshlands here. There are port-a-pottys in three locations. Rangers/ Police do check for fishing licenses, so bring it. There is 1 public boat lauch inside Grizzly Island, and there is a fee to park near the launch. Provide proof. If you brought it in, pack it out. Please, no littering.
As a person who wants to seek out wildlife, there wasn't much to see. There was only a dirt road for a few miles for only fishing spots. There was no good place to look for birds or any other animals. I went there on March 9th. Maybe it wasn't the season, but it was underwhelming
We went here for a family hike and was very pleased to find such an abundance of wildlife. I wish there were more signage for hiking areas, or maps letting us know where it is safe to walk. So, we stayed in the car most of our time there and took most of our photos from the car. Great for photography too!!!
Beautiful views and lucky to see a herd of elk, pheasants, raptors and a coyote!
Took boat out and trolled with no luck. Later went under the overpass to the right from the dock, settled with front of boat in the reeds and fished off the back caught 20” striped bass about 11pm
The scenery is beautiful, but the road gets incredibly bumpy at points and there are not enough signs letting you know where you're allowed to be. I wish trails were more easily marked. The no parking signs seem to just be suggestions, so make sure you drive carefully!
One of the least informative websites of any local park. Many rules and restrictions, but they aren't all online. Poor signage. Very limited facilities. And, yet, a beautiful spot where wildlife thrives.
Grizzly island is gorgeous let me start off with that. There's so much to see with all the different habitat settings & open land. I've seen elk, osprey, hawks, vultures & some animal I've never seen before that I can't seem to find online yet.. I go fishing here alot but yet to catch me a keeper lol There's always people fishing here on boats or on the docks but if u keep driving out further into the back u can see more wildlife.
