Beautiful area for wildlife. Great to kayak or boat around. Hate that people can hunt there. Makes it so we can't hike there half the year.
Kayaked around island and got 2 walleye. Of course the big one got away while I was getting my phone.
The most wildlife we have seen on the Maumee was near this beautiful island. Best time to go is after dinner hours, wildlife is most active between 4:30-8:30pm.
This is an island. You can perhaps wade out to it when the river is low, but there is no reason to. It's a wildlife refuge for want of any better use. At one time, I believe, the island was a family get-away with a cabin on it. No longer....
