Checked this place out on a squirrel hunt. Didn't see any squirrel but I did see a rabbit and a bald eagle. I will check this place out again in the future. I didn't like the fact to navigate most of the property you have to go down a really big hill. You know what that means going back to your vehicle, especially if you are hauling out a deer. There was only 1 deer stand down there and I can see why.
There’s very little here, as far as a typical “park” idea. One review mentions a playground, but that has disappeared. The “hiking” trails are little more than animal paths, with often low hanging branches to duck under; come late spring/summer, they’ll be so overgrown you won’t be able to use them. The sign mentions public fishing, but I couldn’t find a path to the creek; the only actual path leads to bluff that’s impassible for anyone not willing to climb, slide, and machete their way down. Maybe I missed something, but it seems there’s not much to offer here.
The trails need to be maintained. It's not a great spot to take kids or pets for this reason. It's also pretty steep and difficult to get down to the creek but it's worth the trek if you're able bodied! Tons of cool fossils everywhere, which is what inspired me to check this place out.
Been here a few times, overhunted by locals I'd say. Ppl have tree stands and harness's in trees back there, locked inaccessible to tree's. Given this public land is very small. I walked through one end to the other in less then 30 min. Seen 3 doe and a young buck.
Small but nice historical park, no place for children if your expecting jungle gyms or swing sets. Old historical grave yard and a spill damn along an old trail that hang been cleared out.
It was our 5 year anniversary yesterday made plans to go here after he got off work because it is a very pretty and quiet place just to spend some time together and to do some fishing it was still day light out and the ranger was locking it up I was so upset
I give it 5 because there is nothing here. Access to the creek full of fossils, pretty trees, a flat walkway that runs in a loop. Super tiny playground, picnic tables. Small but peaceful.
Beautiful spot to see birds and animals...
