Never knew until recently that there is such a beautiful lake in the middle of nowhere. When you visit Camelback, take a hike to Wolf lake.
Beautiful scenery. Multiple creeks. On south side starts as gradual slope leading up to ridge line. Hunted here briefly late season saw a moderate amount of other hunters and good sign of deer activity. A portion of the SW area is posted by a hunting club. Would go again if had more time to scout spots.
Good for walking or easy mtn biking. Please don't litter. Pack in & pack out
Big Pocono is the best. Took a beautiful hike to Wolf swamp. The road is freshly coated in gravel and super easy walking.
Not a park, it is public hunting ground. Nothing here but forested mountain land, some streams and ponds, and a few trails. Oh, almost forgot, also has some of the nastiest scrub oak and laurel you can imagine. Oh yeah, then there are the swamps you can get lost in. Wide variety of terrain from scary steep to mildly hilly with deep hollows, flat benches, rock outcrops, and patches of stuff you wish you never entered. There are also open woods in places where you can see for hundreds of yards. Gated roads and fire breaks intersect throughout it.Truly an amazing parcel of land. Purchased with hunting license dollars but open to everyone. Wear your orange and be safe.
We just got done painting the new pavilion it will be open soon
SG38 has been one of my favorite mountain biking locations for a long time. Varied terrain, from wide double track to gnarly single track, mud to rocks to deep sand (naturally deposited sand no less!). Wolf Swamp, Deep Lake and Grass Lake are all great places to stop and take in some pretty scenery. Wildlife abounds here, deer (of course, it's PA!), bear, coyote, turkey and beaver to name a few. Not for the average tourist, but still a wonderful place to visit.
Not sure what's up with this area, been hunting this area for 50 years not many deer on the gamelan anymore . I know there is quite a few coyotes but the deer numbers are low, don't care what the game commission says. The oaks just don't seem to be producing enough acorns. They have clear-cut alot over the past few years, I saw alot more deer before they did this. Just don't understand, the thought process of cutting out most of the oaks and not providing anything for the deer to eat. Only thing growing is more dam scruboaks ,gonna be years before it recovers, if ever. PA game commission is run by knukleheads.
