Tycoon Lake Wildlife Area

A beautiful lake and scenic wildlife area. Tycoon Lake Wildlife Area has a few designated areas that you can park and have open areas for great views of the lake. I tried to see if it had trails and trail map before I went but I couldn't find any mention of trails. Thankfully when I arrived at the boat launching ramp there were some unmarked trails along the edge of the lake going to the dam that has a wetland area on the other side. You can walk across the dam where the more noticeable trail ends and a hill and the woods begin. Although the trails aren't as obvious, you can see paths of people who hunt there use and get some great views of the lake. I noticed only one portable restroom at the boat launching area. There isn't a playground or any other amenities.

It's a nice little lake. Even better if you know your way around. Several areas to just be with nature.

We got stuck trying to find a spot for a picnic. Best to have 4 wheel drive. Nice locals helped me out tho!

Would have been better but mosquitoes are crazy there...nice lake and caught few but don't forget your bug spray or you will be miserable

Almost a well kept secret, there's rarely anyone here. It's amazingly beautiful and quiet. But be advised it's designated as a hunting, fishing, and trapping wildlife area so there are no shelters or playground. But there's plenty of soft green grass to spread out on and have a great day. No swimming or camping, however.
