Love this place! My wife and I took up bird watching during COVID, and this place never disappoints. We've met lots of nice people from land owners, bird watchers, fishermen, and photographers. We have seen several species of local wildlife, including Great Horned Owls. Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, Herons, Turtles, Muskrat, and Red Headed Woodpeckers. Seen migrate and non-local birds such as Stilts, White Pelicans, and many shore birds. The drawback is flooding, stay alert and be careful when traveling, Clayplant & Wilderness roads.
This is a fantastic place to spot various wildlife birds, waterfowl, swans, hawks, and eagles. They have a great viewing tower located off 95, down a gravel road. It’s an ideal spot for an elevated view.
Why to early to watch birds fly off. BUT it's always nice.
Started hunting here last year during late goose season and I love it, came back during the 24/25 duck season and it was fun. Saw a few hundred ducks and a bunch of geese. Be careful where you walk in the marsh I was up to my waist in mud, so I suggest a walking stick
We saw Great Blue Herons, Sandhill Cranes, Willett, Killdeer, Red Headed Woodpeckers, and a baby deer that looked just born ! Amazing !!
Nice to drive by but not a place I’d want to hike at.
Good spots for parking and great place for birds
A beautiful day to see some of mother nature's beauty.
