Must see stop if you’re traveling the Seward Highway! Stopped in today with our 3 kids and everyone had a fantastic time. The couple running the place were fantastic. The wife showed us the proper way to pan for gold even tho I think the kids dumped most into the water barrels. The husband was also great, he asked our daughters if they wanted to help let the chickens and ducks out. In a world that everything is so expensive it’s only $1 per person to get in. Nice gift shop with lots of different types of stuff. Even the pay dirt was reasonable. 3 sizes $20/$50/$100. We got the $50 dollar bucket and took the 4 of us more then 2 hours to get thru it!

What a great time! The owners are great, well knowledgeable, and helpful. The museum is really interesting and panning for gold was really cool! Sitting there, looking out over the water to the mountains while panning was relaxing and peaceful. Definitely recommended going!

We had a great time learning how to pan for gold! Staff were super helpful in teaching us the process, and we were able to leave with a vial full of gold and small gemstones we had found ourselves. Even got to feed the ducks! Super cute little spot

Thank you so much to the owners! They were so sweet with our children. We learned so much and even saw a wild bear very very close! Highly recommend panning for gold and shopping here! Best cookies ever!

Visiting the Indian Valley Mine and Gift Shop was a truly remarkable experience. The owner’s warm hospitality and extensive knowledge of the mine’s history greatly enhanced our trip to Alaska. The owner provided us with detailed, easy-to-understand instructions on how to pan for gold, ensuring that even beginners like us could enjoy the process. The site is exceptionally welcoming to international visitors, making it a must-visit destination on any trip to Alaska. I wholeheartedly recommend taking the time to stop here and immerse yourself in this unique and enriching activity.

Cool little family owned business. You can pan for gold here but the material comes from a lode mine elsewhere. The dirt comes in plastic jugs in $10, $20 or $100 size. Once your purchase the jug, one of the workers will take you to a tub of water and teach you how to pan. You are guaranteed to get some gold from your dirt, but no guarentee on how much. There are also a gaggle of turkeys, ducks and chickens on the property. They were penned up when we got their but the owner let them out when we were done panning. All the birds were friendly as can be and the turkeys even used one of us as a pole to chase the other turkey around. There is a gift shop where you can buy a pan, gold items, moose antlers for your dog to chew on and more. All (three) of the workers we encountered were genuinely nice people and were friendly and fun to engage with. Hours are 10am to 6pm daily. Located about 20-25 minutes south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. Nice little tourist spot, highly recommend checking it out especially if you have kids!

One of the most beautiful stops along the coast! If you ever want to learn more about native Alaskan history this is the place to go. The owner of this place is very sweet and knowledgeable. This place is a part of her story and is clearly visible in the little objects and sculptures which make this place so beautiful. I don't usually post reviews but I'm going out of my way to post this one because this was a really beautiful experience and these guys deserve all the love and appreciation they can get. Do visit! They're right beside some famous view points on Seward highway. 🙌🏻❤️

Wow!! What a wonderful “gem” on the side of the highway just 20 minutes south of Anchorage. Don’t pass this little place up. The couple who run it Roger and Arlene are wonderful people and gave us a FREE tour of their property and history of this historic site. So interesting! Stop and take the time and listen, you won’t regret. They have beautiful views, and the small friendly animals running around add to the charm. So many little unique souvenirs. They taught us how to pan for gold, and we took home some souvenirs of gold and other gems that we actually panned ourselves. Definitely a highlight of our time in Alaska.
