Paynes Creek Historic State Park

Hard to beat a nice morning walk through a beautiful state park. Payne's Creek is a nice leisurely stroll along the banks of Payne's Creek and then joins up with the Peace River. Breath taking scenery at the confluence. Diverse wild life spotting opportunities too. Spotted two Swallow Tail Kites and a couple gators along the way. Looked like Mama and a couple young ones. There's history to take in as well. Walk to the monument via the suspension bridge for sure. Playground and picnic areas available. Very clean facilities as well. Look forward to coming back and enjoying this wonderful Florida State Park.

A hidden gem! A little over 3 miles of great trails, once you find the trailhead. Beautiful wildlife and sights! Even a suspension bridge! Interesting local history lesson and artifacts in the visitor center! Definitely worth the $3 entry fee. Easy to access restrooms inside the visitor center.

Great riverside park. Nice and easy hiking trails, canoe launch, pavilions you can rent, picnic tables, playground, and grills. No developed campground, but there is hike in primitive camping. Nice visitor’s center with a historical exhibit on the Seminole War. Didn’t get to explore everything, but what we saw we liked. We will be back.

Nice easy walk-in paths with a suspension bridge. We also saw both large and baby gators. The water had an interesting orange tint to it.

Nice trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and a small visitor center. The grounds and bathrooms were clean.

Great park, quiet trails to walk, very peaceful. Not many people are aware. Day use only park. Reenactments

In the land of bone valley mining, this is a hidden gem. Saw a peace river monster gator, gorgeous white sand berms and river bottoms, thousands of years of history in the river banks. Worth an hour of your time.
