An astonishing and beautiful place that is as good as any national park, and much better than most national parks. Most of this park remains in its original natural wilderness state. It is wild, and it is a great place to visit. Some areas are difficult to reach without a float plane. You can hike to the northern lakes, but you better know where you're going and be well supplied. You could get yourself in some serious trouble if you do both. You can travel to many of the lakes by use of a boat. The water is cold, so be prepared in case you make an unscheduled dip. If you are using a motorized boat, best to have an outboard jet motor. Many rivers and streams can be shallow, and the rocky bottoms can destroy a propeller. No generators are allowed. It is wilderness. Other restrictions can be seen at the park's website. Great idea to take bear spray that you can buy in Dillingham, to be safe. Cannot bring bear spray on commercial planes. If you come prepared, and have a couple of weeks or more, you're going to have a great time.
We only traveled a small part of this park, but what we saw of it was wild and gorgeous (as are many parts of the northern half of North America). It is lovely and mostly untouched it seems. Highly recommend a visit if you're given the opportunity. It is inspiring and unforgettable.
