It's a nice lake to fish if you have a boat.. there are some places to bank fish but there is a lot of lilly pads around the edge of most of the lake, about 20-30' out till you get open water.. There are paths around part of the lake but they need some attention, jaggers and tree limbs obstruct the way There is a Peninsula type strip but it's over grown as well( wear pants). I tried to go around the lake on the path.. but it dead ended on the east side. There is a nicely mowed section up front and along the Dam. There is a boat launch ramp as well

Nice location. Not highly developed, but what there is is well maintained, including a new boat ramp and launch dock. There is evidence of trail development and access roads. I need to explore more to better evaluate.

Fracking at the Zepernick Wildlife Area could have significant negative impacts on the local ecosystem, including potential contamination of water sources, disruption of wildlife habitats, increased noise pollution, air quality degradation due to emissions, and increased traffic from drilling operations, potentially impacting the area's recreational value for visitors.

Found this place while taking back roads to Pittsburgh. Looked like a decent lake to fish in. The boat ramp and parking lot were fairly nice and accommodating.

Beautiful location. It just appears on you as your driving down 172. All trees around and then Bam!! Its there. Looks like a great fishing Bass factory. I have not had the chance to test it yet. Great for kids!!

Zepernick is a beautiful lake, and used to be great for fishing, but it is still recovering from being drained. Lots of small fish, but it will be a couple of years before it's worth the trip. Canoeing or kayaking is a great way to use the lake. They have a ramp, and you can use motors up to 10hp. The land around the lake is well kept up, and it would be nice for picknicks by the water. No swimming. Lots of weeds in the water make fishing from shore difficult.
