On a hot day this place is one of the best for cooling down in the shallow and deceptively large pond (warmer than the river by about 15-20 degrees) that never gets deeper than about 3-4ft. The kids have a ball and the parents can just sit back, relax, and enjoy. No swimmers itch!

Absolutely amazing! Had the place to ourselves! You have to cross flowing water to get to the area for camping. It was so peaceful.

We were attempting to find a clearing off of the road, in the attempt to see the Aurora Borealis... This area turned out to be a nice little clearing to view the sky... Unfortunately it was lightly overcast and just wasn't our window of opportunity to catch the lights.

Definitely going back! Excellent introduction to the trails with the sude-by-side. As a new AK resident, we plan on going back to the river to camp and spend days watching the planes fly overhead and the trailblazers in the sand/beach.

No amenities, that's OK. Good place for families to camp. The Chugach mountains are right across the road. The Talkeetna mountains are on the other side. The Knik river flows through it all.

Definitely pretty views. Visited with kiddos about a week ago. Found it to be windy and surprisingly trashy. Lots of cans and even some broken bottles. I pulled into one access point north of the bridge to find just piles of trash (gross). We hung out for a little while and played along the river bed before deciding to head farther south. It's generally a good area to visit but can get trashy, overrun, and noisy with people off roading. If that's your thing then go. After heading south it seemed a lot cleaner and quieter.

They’ve done a great job with the parking at the trailhead. Had a great time out wheelin. There is a $5 parking fee but we’ll worth it to keep everything so nice.

Lots of trails and outdoor fun. Bring a dust mask. Turn on your lights on the trails and be careful. Lots of off road vehicles with no direction signs. A free for all ride.
